Interview With Kids Around the Blog

Writer: Nicole SophsNicole Sophs

Recently, I contacted Lara about her blog Kids Around the Blog. Lara is a blogger from Germany who loves the world of fashion and vintage. She shares her opinion to over two thousand people on her non-stop growing Instagram. Her blog is one out of many that inspired me to start my own, so of course I had to jump at the opportunity to interview her.

Lara started her blog because of the many outfit requests she got over the years, stating, "many of my classmates/ friends, sometimes even girls on the street, asked me where I buy my clothes." This inspired her to start posting her outfit pics on social media and sharing her look on her blog. Her blog became much more than a lookbook though, she started posting her opinion on other topics, such as interior, travel, and much more.

Being a new blogger has its ups and downs, and always seems to have a rocky start unless you have an in, which most don't. I asked her for her opinion on how to grow a brand, and her reply was simple: individuality. "Just be individual, find out what you really love and think about the stuff you want to tell others!" She also says to "interact with other bloggers" because a lot of inspiration can come from others.

Kids From Around the Blog doesn't get its inspiring look from nowhere. I asked Lara who her major fashion icons are and she replied with a list. It may be because we come from opposite sides of the world, but none of the names were recognizable. The three that stuck out the most to me were Florence Welch, Bonnie Strange, and Loulou De Saison. All these strong, influential women have their own look to them and their own story. Florence Welch is an English musician, Bonnie Strange is a German stylist, and Loulou De Saison is a Chloé fashion consultant working in Paris.

Lara has a very original look, and now that I know where her fashion comes from, I had to ask where the rest of her look came from. Hair makes or breaks and outfit and hers definitely takes her look to the next step. Lara shaved her head less than a year ago. Lara said her friend actually influenced her to do it. She replied to my question stating, "a good friend of mine shaved her hair and it looked so good. Then, she encouraged me to do it, too." Her buzz cut look combines her edgy side with her dainty vintage look.

Kids Around the Blog takes notice of what is happening in today's media and fashion. Lara has started a brand for herself and combines vintage and everyday wear into a new look. Lara thank you for doing this interview with me and teaching me and my viewers a little bit more about what is Kids Around the Blog.
